Calendar at a Glance 2022-23

We look forward to a wonderful year with many fun school traditions!  Please review the following PTO calendar preview to get an idea of what to expect this year, and please participate as much as possible and reach out to ClaypitPTO@gmail.com to volunteer. Volunteer help is essential to continuing these traditions each year!

This calendar will be updated throughout the year as details and dates are finalized. Please also read the Claypit Hill Tuesday eNews, seasonal PTO newsletter and follow us on our PTO Facebook page and PTO Instagram to stay informed.

Month Event Summary
September Kindergarten scavenger hunt (4-6pm on Aug 31) Kindergarten families are invited to participate in a scavenger hunt to learn about some of the special spots at Claypit Hill, followed by a popsicle at the playground!
September Thank you and welcome staff lunch (Aug 31) PTO welcomes staff to the new school year during orientation days with a catered lunch and welcome back messages from students
September Kindergarten parent meet-up (7:45-8:30am on Sept 6) We invite kindergarten parents and caregivers for a casual coffee chat during drop-off on kindergarten students’ first day. This is a great opportunity to meet other kindergarten parents, ask questions and see your child off on their first day!
September My Brother’s Table kick-off Involve your kids in bringing food donations to Claypit Hill that will help Wayland families in need. Watch the eNews to see each month’s theme and track our impact!
September Curriculum night (Sept 8 [3-5] and Sept 15 [K-2]) Hear updates about the new school year and meet your student’s teacher.
September PTO meeting
(7:30pm on Sept 20)
Learn more about the PTO, including updates on fall initiatives, share your questions and ideas, and learn how you can get involved! The meeting will be at Claypit with a zoom dial-in to join remotely.
October School picture days (Sept 16) Kids will take individual and class pictures, and families will have an opportunity to place orders in advance.
October Harvest festival (Oct 16) Get excited for some fall fun outdoors! Join us for a fun Sunday afternoon with fall-themed crafts, STEM activities, games and foods, as well as a first visit to the fall book fair.
October Book fair (Oct 17-21) Each class will visit the book fair, allowing students a chance to explore and find one or a few to take home (or to purchase from your teacher’s wish list to add to the classroom library!). This fall we will partner with Scholastic. Book fair scholarships are available.
November PTO meeting Help with planning about winter initiatives,
November/ December Holiday gift drive Work together as a family to help give back to others in need around the holidays!
January STEAM discovery night + Science Fair Students can create and share their own science project, as well as learn and explore new STEAM concepts shared by scientists, local museums and experts!
February Talent show Let your children share their talents with their friends and family, we have an amazing community!
March PTO meeting Help with planning for spring initiatives, and share your feedback and ideas.
March Reading Rocks! Our spring book fair kick-off event, featuring story/book themed activities and entertainment.
March Book fair Our spring book fair gives your child another opportunity to explore and find fun new stories to bring home. In the spring, we partner with a local, independent book store to give a new assortment of books to explore.
March BINGO night [TBD] This town-wide, family evening is a fun way to bring our whole community together.
March Backpack auction Our fun, online auction gives families a chance to bid on a wide assortment of great items, and support the PTO along the way!
March/April Garden kick-off Students and families get a chance to plant and take care of fruits, vegetables and flowers in our amazing school garden, then harvest them for garden-to-table treats over the summer
May Art show Families come together to view and celebrate some of the amazing projects students have created in the art studio!
June PTO meeting This final meeting will focus on upcoming events and plan for next year’s board and budget.
June Claypit cares This day of service gives students and staff a chance to give back and see how their effort can impact others in our community and around the world!
June Field day Students and parent volunteers can both enjoy this day of outdoor, active fun!
June Ice cream social Celebrate the end of school with friends, food, ice cream and fun!
